Strengths
Linux Administration
My first taste of Linux was in the mid 90s using Slackware Linux. I then moved to RedHat/CentOS and tried several other Linux flavors, including Mandrake, openSUSE, Linspire, Xandros, Engrade and Ubuntu. I also have experience with other Operating Systems like FreeBSD, Solaris, BeOS and QNX.
Web Hosting
My first foray into web was building CERN httpd from source. I eventualy moved to Apache and PHP. By 2008, I've moved Inquirer.net from Apache/PHP to Lighttpd/PHP. By 2009, Nginx was on the rise and stable enough that I moved all web properties to it. With Nginx, the Inquirer.net website at it's peak was serving 60-80 Million pageviews per month.
Systems Admin
At Mindgate Systems, I had the oppurtunity of being a part of releasing ground breaking services at that time. The highlight for me was the Multi-Link connection using two or more US Robotics dialup modems and the Lucent Portmaster. No other ISP nor Telco was offering it at that time.
Scripting
Automation is part of my work, having discovered scripting while building Linux kernel from patches released by Alan Cox. My final work for Inquirer.net is a script that processes the Philippine's local and national elections. The script, written in Python and using the Pandas library, processes the results that came in USB drives.
